Self- Interpretive Environment -3.5 years
At Wonders Kids, we encourage kids to make the most of their wonder years by providing them with opportunities to explore, experience, share and enjoy their world, at their own pace, without being the restraining force. Their curiosity is nurtured through a series of positive experiences and exploration pursuits, that in turn, up their sense of belongingness and self-confidence.
Our play-based curriculum aims at making your kids “learning ready and self-aware” to fit into the formal education system, both physically and emotionally. In a self-interpretive curriculum, we cater to the following areas of development.
ARITHMETIC READINESS
Familiarizing with rote counting (1-20), sorting, matching, ordering and sequencing activities, recognition of basic shapes, numbers, position, size, and quantifying numbers promotes arithmetic readiness and pattern making.
CREATIVE EXPRESSION
Creative play, music, movement, arts and hands-on learning crafts encourage kids to explore their world and visualize abstract ideas in the physical world. Exposure to different media enables kids to experiment with their visualizations.
LEARNING READINESS
Curiosity to learn and explore their world is natural to kids. Our programs turn this enthusiasm into positive learning experiences and enable children to think, reflect and respond to various everyday situations.
LITERACY AND PHONEMIC AWARENESS
Familiarizing with Alphabets, phonic sounds and starting words enables kids to comprehend that print connotes meaning, and encourages interest in books and illustrations. Story and rhyme sessions improve listening skills and promote the learning of concepts and patterns enjoyably. Kids are encouraged to describe through words and gestures, materials, people, feelings, positions, weather, stories and patterns, to build their vocabulary and language.
COMMUNICATION READINESS
Role plays, dress-up days and “my homework talks” are organized to let kids be vocal about their ideas and feelings and build up their self-esteem.
SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Kids are encouraged to grow individually, overcome shyness, anxieties, and, become a part of the group, through team projects and group play. They are encouraged to feel safe in the school environment and to seek support from and offer help to peers and teachers.
SELF-AWARENESS
We encourage kids to be aware of their selves, maintain personal hygiene, self-feed snacks, respond when they are called by their name or being spoken to, follow simple directions, and communicate their hunger, thirst, or need to sleep, or use the toilet, to the teacher/caregiver. Behaviour modelling, self-care, sensitizing of other’s needs, and self-control ensue in acceptance of being in a diverse group.
